Edge trims with top seals are used to seal doors, hatches, lockers, enclosures and cabinets to prevent the ingress of water, air and other foreign objects. They can be used within most industry sectors where the door or lid closes down onto the top of a protruding panel edge. The edge trim clips over the panel allowing for the sponge sealing bulb to compress and create a reliable watertight seal when the lid is closed. This top seal is manufactured from a closed-cell sponge rubber so will not absorb water or moisture.

The edge trim is produced with a metal reinforced spine that strengthens the section and allows the product to hold itself onto the panel edge without the need for adhesive, screws or other fixings. This also helps protect the edge of the underlying panel, whether that is fibreglass, wood, glass or metal.

To identify the best replacement product, you will need to determine the size of the gap you need to seal. You can do this by either measuring the top sealing bulb on your existing seal, or the size of the gap between the panel edge and closing lid. We recommend that you compress the sponge sealing bulb by approximately a third to create a reliable sealing solution but also minimise the chance of damaging the section by over compression. You will also need to measure the thickness of the panel that the edge trim will be clipped over.
